Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Raven app ("the App") operated by CodePulse ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Raven (16 in the EEA). By using the App you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has consented to these Terms.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for:

  • Keeping your account credentials secure
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Ensuring the information you provide is accurate

You may not create an account on behalf of someone else or transfer your account to another person.

3. Subscription & Billing

Free Trial

New accounts receive a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. No payment information is required to start a trial.

Paid Subscription

After the trial, continued access to creating new entries and AI features requires a subscription at $6.99/month (or the equivalent in your local currency).

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly through the Apple App Store or Google Play
  • Payment is charged to your store account at confirmation of purchase
  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's store subscription settings

What Happens When You Don't Subscribe

If your trial expires and you choose not to subscribe:

  • You retain full read access to all your existing entries forever
  • You will not be able to create new entries or trigger AI reflections until you subscribe

We do not delete your data because your subscription has lapsed.

Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) in accordance with their respective policies. We do not control refund decisions made by the stores.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Raven to:

  • Upload, write, or transmit any content that is unlawful, abusive, threatening, or that infringes the rights of others
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App
  • Access or attempt to access other users' accounts or data
  • Use the App in any way that could damage, overload, or impair our systems
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to interact with the App

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. Your Content

You own your diary entries. By using Raven, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and transmit your content solely to provide the services described in the App (including sending entries to AI providers to generate reflections, as described in our Privacy Policy).

We do not claim ownership of anything you write. We do not use your entries for advertising or to train AI models.

6. Mental Health Disclaimer

Raven is not a medical device, mental health treatment, or substitute for professional care.

The App provides journaling tools, AI reflections, mood tracking, and coping techniques for general wellbeing purposes only. Nothing in the App constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, thoughts of self-harm, or a medical emergency, please contact emergency services or a crisis line immediately. The App provides crisis resource links in Settings → Crisis Support.

7. Intellectual Property

The Raven name, logo, design, and all software are owned by CodePulse and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our written permission.

8. Availability & Changes

We aim to keep the App available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may:

  • Modify, update, or discontinue features at any time
  • Perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability
  • Update these Terms (we will notify you of material changes in-app)

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CodePulse shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or emotional distress.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the App. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with or without notice.

On termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days as described in our Privacy Policy.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where local consumer protection law requires otherwise.
